What we are making now?
The pottery currently produces 4 individual designs with many more forthcoming. Each distinct design is known as a ‘series’. Each distinctive finish of that design is designated a letter. Each series offers customers not only pots but also wall plaques both mounted and unmounted.
Ian Beamish is continually bringing in new designs, thereby keeping the collection constantly changing, and is delighted that his dream of starting ‘The House Pottery’ is now realised and enjoying success.
About the artist
After obtaining his degree from Bath Academy of Art, and subsequent PGCE from the University of London , Goldsmiths’ College, Ian has spent over 25 years in primary education as a teacher and headteacher.
Ian studied ceramics in the 1970s and then, as now, his inspiration comes from the built environment. Many of his pieces reflect his fascination with derelict and dilapidated buildings. Ian’s house pots frequently reminds people of buildings they have known and loved themselves not just in recognisable physical appearance but because the character and spirit of those places has been portrayed.
